How To Install Plex in a FreeNAS 11.0 Jail:įirst off, navigate to your FreeNAS WebUI in your browser. working on it but I can't seem to make pw usermod do what it is supposed to do (no changes at all) in the userId/GroupId I still could not do 1 thing in the tutorial, which is the workaround the user and user group for the mount. In the meantime I gathered several URLs with related info that could be useful for someone, who knows I also modified /usr/local/etc/pkg/repos/nf based on the following post too modify in the jail, but I may rollback to previous config. In my case so I did make a DNS mistake in the config. I detail the installation of plex on FreeNAS Jail and configuration of using a share as a Plex mount point. *.).Thanks for the tutorial by the way, too obvious to say ! Very helpful and clear. In this video I go through an in-depth installation of the Plex plugin in Freenas 11.2. They actually generate a real cert on your install as well, but its for a name that you would likely never use to get to it (e.g. Most of the available ACME clients have CloudFlare support built-in as well as other popular DNS providers.įor Plex specifically, you don’t need to worry about generating a cert as they do it for you when you connect via. Realistically for most things you’re hosting internally, it’s going to be easier to use DNS based challenge validation rather than HTTP. And the certificates you create would then all be for things in. Under File Information choose User -> plex and Group -> wheel. At the Dataset where the media is located, choose edit ACL. The Plex plugin allways uses this username with userid in it’s jail with corresponding userid. ![]() So would point to which points to your current IP. Create user ‘plex’ with ID 972 at Primary Group ‘wheel’. I’ve read the guides and understand most of it but I was wondering what the current recommendations are to migrate Plex to iocage while preserving data. Then, you’d need to setup CNAME (alias) records that point your CloudFlare domain names at your No-IP hostname. Using CloudFlare would involve actually purchasing a domain of your own (some TLDs can be purchased for free, check ). I’m using a combination of GUI & CLI.ĬloudFlare is a glorified DNS hosting provider. I’m using a control panel to manage my site (no, or provide the name and version of the control panel): I can login to a root shell on my machine (yes or no, or I don’t know): The operating system my web server runs on is (include version): If the output is still necessary, I’ll supply the details. So my question is simple: How do I work behind the firewall to configure the FreeNAS when the domain name applies to the WAN connection to the router? I’ve tried lots of things to validate a certificate, but so far have been unsuccessful. The external domain names point to my router, but inside on the local network I have another NAS drive already running, plus computers, streaming devices, etc. I’m in the process of configuring a FreeNAS server. I’ve been using no-ip successfully for several years. My router is a Linksys WRT1900ACS, which only supports 2 ddns providers: no-ip and dyn.com. So I have to use a ddns to use a constant domain name. My ISP, Cox, uses DHCP to dynamically change the IP address of my router. ![]()
